Year 4 recently took part in an exciting Electricity and Circuits Workshop at school, led by a visiting workshop leader. Throughout the session, the children developed their understanding of electricity through a range of engaging, hands-on activities and investigations.

The workshop gave pupils the opportunity to explore how electrical circuits work, identify the different components needed to make a circuit, and discover how electricity powers many of the devices we use every day. The children enjoyed experimenting with equipment, making predictions, and testing their ideas as they investigated how electricity flows through a circuit.

The workshop brought learning to life and helped to reinforce key scientific concepts in a fun and interactive way. Year 4 showed great enthusiasm, curiosity, and teamwork throughout the session, asking thoughtful questions and sharing their discoveries with one another.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and gained valuable knowledge that will support their learning in science. It was a fantastic experience that inspired many budding scientists!

  • Year 4 Mango Gets Out into Nature!

    Published 31/03/26, by Nafisah Mahmood

Year 4 Mango had a brilliant time visiting South Park to see nature up close! We really wanted to take our current topic, "Cycles," out of the classroom and see it happening in the real world.

The kids got stuck into some awesome hands-on activities. They loved exploring different habitats and spotting the local wildlife. The best part was seeing everyone link what we found outside to our rainforest topic! It was so cool to hear the class comparing the food chains and life cycles right here on our doorstep with the ones we've been studying in the jungle.

'For our Drop-Down Day, we visited South Park. My favourite part was looking in the muddy water and finding insects and bugs. I learnt a lot about a variety of swans, ducks and geese. There were so many, such as an Egyptian goose. My class and I really enjoyed this trip!' - Aisha B

  • Ramadan vibes only!

    Published 04/03/26, by Nafisah Mahmood

'In Ramadan we believe that Muslims fast in the name of Allah and think of the poor and needy. We do this by not having food and drink for some part of the day/night. I have really enjoyed ramadan so far, and I have tried fasting for a couple of days. My favourite thing about ramadan is when it's time to have iftar (when you break your fast) because of the food!

I am looking forward to Eid, a special celebration for Muslims, and doing more good deeds.' - Khadijah C

There is something magical about the energy of a Year 4 swimming session. For many of our girls, this year marks a huge transition – moving from "splashing around" to developing genuine technique, stamina, and confidence in the water.

Whether they arrived at the pool as confident mermaids or cautious waders, the progress we've seen over the last few weeks has been nothing short of inspiring.

'The girls had finally had the opportunity to go swimming! It was really fun for all of us, and it was a great opportunity for children who knew how to swim or wanted to try it for the first time. I'm excited about more of our lessons!' - Saarah

  • Year 4 has been busy bringing the rainforest to life!

    Published 13/02/26, by Nafisah Mahmood

Each child created their own rainforest diorama, carefully including animals, plants, and the different layers of the rainforest.

Through this project, Year 4 has been learning about the life cycles of plants and animals and how everything in nature depends on each other. They explored the balance and harmony in creation, reflecting the perfection of Allah’s world. We also discussed how Islam teaches us to care for the environment and all living creatures. It has been wonderful to see their creativity, learning, and faith come together in such a hands-on project!

'In Art this week, we’ve been exploring the world of rainforests! We got crafty and built 3D dioramas using simple materials like old shoe boxes, tissue paper, felt, and coloured cards. I enjoyed painting the box, creating the waterfall and being able to use my own creativity.'–Talha & Ilyas

    Published 04/02/26, by Nafisah Mahmood

In Year 4, we have been enjoying learning about The Ghost Thief podcast story. We listened carefully to each episode, talked about the characters, and shared our ideas about what might happen next. We also learnt how voices, sound effects, and music can make a story exciting and help listeners imagine what is happening.

After listening to the story, we created our own podcasts! We planned our ideas, wrote our own scripts, and practised speaking clearly and with expression. We worked together to record our voices and thought carefully about how to make our podcasts fun and interesting for others to enjoy. This helped us build confidence, creativity, and teamwork skills.
