"On our Year 5 trip to the National Maritime Museum we learnt all about space and Earth. We learnt that the Sun is made up of gases (Hydrogen and Helium), which makes it very hot. This links back to our harmony principle of Cycle and how everything in Allah's creation is made in balance". Ameena

  • Early Islamic Civilisation

    Published 19/06/26, by Aysha Begum

" A long time ago, powerful Muslim armies conquered Spain and built great stone castles. For 800 years, Christian Kings fought to take the land back in a war called The Reconquista. To win the final battle, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella got married and joined their armies together. They used giant stone-blasting cannons and blocked all food from entering the city of Granda (the last city to surrender). Once they conquered the land, they forced everybody to become Christians. They either converted or were exiled. Priests were going around ensuring no one was practising their old faith. They were persecuted if they were found". Zainab

We are looking for the tallest tomato plant in the school. The final weigh-in (or rather, "measure-up") will take place on June 12th.

    The Rules:

    • Measurement: From the soil/ground upwards.

    • Location: We will measure the plant wherever it is—whether it’s still chilling in your classroom or already thriving in the allotment.

    • The Prize: The winning teacher gets a delicious slice of cake (the ultimate motivator), and the winning class will receive a framed certificate featuring a "portrait" of their champion plant to display with pride.

Year 5 had a fantastic time on their residential trip to Gilwell Park. For many children, this was their first time away from home, making the experience even more exciting and memorable. The trip was packed with fun-filled activities, including grass sledging, archery, crate stacking, shelter building and the much-anticipated campfire! It was a wonderful learning experience that helped the children develop new skills, build their confidence and create lasting memories with their friends.

  • Islam Awareness Week at Al-Noor

    Published 22/04/26, by Aysha Begum

At a school like Al-Noor Primary, which has a strong reputation for community engagement, an "Islam Awareness" event is a powerful way to build bridges and dispel misconceptions.

    Why This Matters

Events like this are brilliant for several reasons:

    • Building Confidence: Speaking in front of nearly 200 people (including adults from other schools) is an incredible boost for a 9 or 10-year-old’s public speaking skills.

    • Interfaith Dialogue: Opening your doors to local schools fosters a sense of community and helps neighbours understand each other better.

    • Active Learning: There is an old saying that "to teach is to learn twice." By preparing a presentation for their peers, the Year 5 students also deepened their own understanding of their faith and the significant contribution Muslim Scientists made toward the field of Science and Medicine.
